History Of Computers & Internet. In 1937 Alan Turing's Turing
machine pioneered the idea of machines that could complete well-defined tasks by
being supplied with programs. In 1938, Konrad Zuse built the first binary
digital relay computer. In 1943 saw the first general-purpose digital computer,
ENIAC. In 1948 the Manchester Baby became the first stored program computer. In
1955 MIT built the first real-time processing machine. In 1956, IBM created the
disk memory system. The next year brought the integrated circuit chip. In 1959
IBM introduced the first desktop machines, which led in 1965 to Digital
Equipment Corporation's introduction of the first real microcomputer. The links
