Screen Savers no longer run after installing McAfee VirusScan.

Question:

Screen savers no longer run after installing McAfee VirusScan.

Additional information:

Early versions of McAfee VirusScan installed a feature known as "Screen Scan", which was created to scan for computer viruses when your screen saver was initiated. Unfortunately, in many cases this would cause the screen saver to de-activate as soon as McAfee attempted to run, causing screen savers to not work or only work for a few seconds.

Answer:

To resolve this issue, disable the "Screen Scan" feature by performing the below steps.

  1. Click Start, Settings, and open the Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the "Display" icon.
  3. Within the "Display" window, open the "Screen" tab.
  4. Uncheck the check box for enabling Screen Scan. If you are unable to locate this box within this window, it is likely this is not the cause to your issue.
